| | Dear Amy’s Kitchen, I just have to tell you about my recent discovery of your products. Our family is becoming more conscious of the food we consume, trying to buy as local and organic as is possible. But, as with many, we are busy and get caught up in the rat race. I was glad to come across your frozen pot pies for those hurried nights when from scratch isn't possible. We all loved them so much and are looking forward to trying other products on those busy nights. Thank you! When we were getting ready to introduce our first product, the Vegetable Pot Pie, I purchased 10,000 pounds each of peas, carrots and potatoes. I was worried – what if we couldn’t use all those vegetables? We did! Twenty-five years later, we now purchase 85 million pounds of organic produce a year. Here's a secret about Amy's – we're making a lot more food these days, but we're the same family company we were 25 years ago. For us, the food always comes first. Amy's meals are made with real food, grown by dedicated organic farmers and prepared by people who have been with us for a long time. Every meal still begins with a recipe, not a formula. Our sourcing team is still out in the fields, working with the farmers. We have chefs, not food scientists, and we still taste everything to ensure the highest quality meals. I marvel at how much we've grown without sacrificing the values we started with - bringing great tasting, organic, non-GMO, vegetarian meals to people who don't always have time to cook. We still love to cook for you. If you were a cow, you'd probably want to spend your days eating clover and grass in Northern California's Humboldt County. The gentle climate and warm rains from the nearby Pacific Ocean make these pasture lands the perfect bovine habitat. Our friend Bob, an artisan cheese-maker, lives here and raises a herd of Holstein and Jersey cows to make his farm's small-batch, handmade cheeses. He takes the quality of his cheese very seriously. That's why, back in 1991, he decided to team up with Amy's Kitchen. Bob says that when he met Andy and Rachel, the founders of Amy's, he knew their standards would ensure that the quality of his cheeses would be preserved and respected, including Bob's commitment not to use rBGH or other synthetic hormones. Twenty years later, Bob is still supplying us with his delicious cheeses, an essential part of some of our signature dishes. Taste his handcrafted cheddar and Monterey Jack in Amy's Kitchen Cheese Enchiladas, Broccoli and Cheddar Bake, and Bean and Cheese Burritos. NEW PRODUCTS Our chefs have been busy in the kitchen so you don't have to be. They've cooked up three new delicious items: Veggie Meatballs, Gluten-free brownies and wild crafted mushroom bisque. Veggie Meatballs Soon after we released our Spaghetti Italiano, Amy's fans started requesting we make the veggie meatballs in that dish available on their own. We loved your idea, so we made it happen. Now you can buy just meatless meatballs and add them to your own pasta dishes and other home-cooked meals. (Hot tip: They're also delicious dressed up as appetizers for a party.) Watch for them in stores now! Gluten-free Chocolate Brownies Amy's dad Andy loves sweets, so he helped us develop the perfect gluten-free chocolate brownie recipe. He reminded us that a classic brownie must have a rich, fudgy center and a sweet, crumbly crust. After a lot of trial and error, we created a recipe we all love –and we think you will, too. Our brownies come uncut in their tray, so you choose how to slice and serve them. And we're happy to say we use Rainforest Alliance certified chocolate. Watch for them in the freezer section. (Gluten-free, contains dairy) Mushroom Bisque with Porcini Looking for a simple indulgence? Try our newest mushroom soup featuring porcini mushrooms. Porcinis are a favorite ingredient with Italian chefs because of their naturally sweet and nutty flavor. We use wild-crafted porcini mushrooms and combine them with organic leeks, cream, and Arborio rice to make this rich, delightful bisque. This soup is also a perfect ingredient in homemade casseroles and risotto. Look for it in stores now. (Gluten-free, contains dairy.)
